Let’s Drive Change – the Vegan Way

We all make decisions for the future. In fact, we do so every day.

The automotive interior of the future is vegan.

When choosing our food, home interiors, leisure activities or modes of transportation, we should not only think about tomorrow or the day after. We need to also think about how these decisions will affect the reality of future generations. In other words: we bear responsibility for our actions because we don't only make decisions for our own future – we ultimately make them for everyone. And that is precisely why they must be sustainable. For us at Continental, this means developing, manufacturing, and marketing surfaces that not only feel and look good, but also do good by consistently excluding components of animal origin.

The automotive interior of the future is vegan.

Our motto "The Future in Motion" makes it clear that we aim to provide forward-looking solutions for the automotive industry. For Continental, this means, among other things, that we are constantly developing new, innovative concepts for automotive interiors that meet high customer expectations. In doing so, we consistently follow our moral compass, place particular emphasis on sustainability and are firmly opposed to the use of animal testing in the development of our surface materials.

However, our journey towards environmental protection and better ethics does not end here. Our aim is to produce our products completely vegan and offer our customers high-quality results free from animal suffering. The premium surface material Benova Eco Protect® already meets these strict criteria and has been officially certified by the animal rights organization PETA with the "PETA-Approved Vegan" label.

In addition to these ethical aspects, vegan surface materials have numerous other advantages. They are significantly more resource-efficient to produce and therefore more climate-friendly. They also help to reduce CO2 emissions in vehicle production. For passengers in the vehicle interior, this means the perfect combination of two worlds: High-quality surface properties such as look and feel and sustainability that promotes animal welfare.

Veganism has many facets. And we have the right products. PETA-Approved.

We are proud that Benova Eco Protect® is now the first surface material from Continental to be certified "PETA-Approved Vegan". This success drives us forward and sets our course for the future. Our goal is to gradually obtain more PETA certifications for our other surface materials.

PETA-Approved Vegan

The PETA-Approved Vegan label provides proof that neither the manufacturing process nor the raw materials used by our suppliers contain any animal ingredients. Customers and end consumers can therefore quickly and easily recognize which product is vegan. The bottom line is that all sides can benefit from sustainable production.

Min-Sook Lee

“Living consciously is very important to me – whether it's about food, clothing or animal welfare in general. That's why I'm proud to work for a company that is dedicated to this topic.”

Min-Sook Lee
Product Manager at Continental

Min-Sook Lee confirms that not only she herself has changed her purchasing behavior in favor of sustainability, but that her business customers are also increasingly requesting vegan materials. In her opinion, the "PETA-Approved Vegan" label is therefore not only a decisive step towards underlining the credibility of Continental's surface products, but also the start of a future that is completely free of animal suffering.
